Leather Texture

Mia Cullin uses simple shapes cut out of diverse materials such as leather, felt and Tyvek and assembles them into highly expressive and tactile-appealing textures.

What's fascinating about Mia's creations is that they appear very rich and intricate at first glance, but a second deeper look into them unveils a rather simple constructive logic.
I like the way she amplifies and at the same time reduces the sense of materialism, playing with the complexity out of multiplicity and exposing the extremely simple puzzle-like assembling process.

  • Interview: Eugeni Quitllet
When we first saw his name close to that of Philippe Starck we googled, with no luck. But shortly after all this revealed to be a product of our unquiet imagination: he is for real, thank goodness.
