The strength of the Shell cupboard designed by Ubald Klug and manufactured by Swiss Rothlisberger lays in the finely thought constructive details.
Made of a very simple frame of solid birch covered with Finnish aviation plywood, the rounded shape of Shell has been achieved through the use of a small series of cuts in the surface of the plywood, which gives the wood the flexibility needed to cover the rounded corners of the object and a small nickel cup closes the rounded end of the curved wood.
Seen from the inside the light that filters through the cuts in the wood enhances the beautiful simplicity of a clever design solution.
